The Four Color Media Monitor

Because if we're going to try and stop the misuse of our favorite comics and their protagonists by the companies that write and publish them, we've got to see what both the printed and online comics news is doing wrong. This blog focuses on both the good and the bad, the newspaper media and the online websites. Unabashedly. Unapologetically. Scanning the media for what's being done right and what's being done wrong.

Spider-Man crosses over with Predator

Gaming Bible reports Marvel's keeping on with the crossovers between their characters and those stemming from horror and violence-themed movie franchises, here being a combination of Spider-Man and Predator, not unlike how Avengers recently crossed over with Aliens, and Black Panther with Predator:
In recent times, Marvel has teamed up with 20th Century Studios to bring us some epic crossovers ranging from Predator vs Wolverine to Alien vs Avengers.

Thanks to these collaborations, Predator and Aliens comics have been featuring the odd Marvel hero and as Predator vs Black Panther comes to an epic end, a brand-new series is about to start.

This time Marvel Comics will be bringing the fans Predator vs Spider-Man #1.

Penned by Benjamin Percy, who was also the brains behind Predator vs. Wolverine and Predator vs. Black Panther, this upcoming series will see Percy team up with artist Marcelo Ferreira to create an epic tale.

Now that the Predators are done with Wakanda, they are turning their attention to New York City in the new year and it is up to our Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man to stave them off.

It is hard to deny that this is Marvel’s biggest crossover yet and it will see Peter have to take on his biggest battle yet.
Just look at how they gush over this long before it even goes to press. These stunts have become so commonplace, they're not exciting anymore, and don't make a good substitute for coherent continuity. This is no healthier an example for how to handle Spidey than how to handle the Avengers, and it's not "epic". But it certainly does demonstrate how the entertainment industry is potentially lacking in franchises with a brighter vision that Marvel and DC's heroes could team up with. But alas, at this point, such a problem will likely never be solved.
