Warner Todd Huston at Breitbart reports that Israeli actress Gal Gadot, who's otherwise a leftist, said that pressure in Hollywood to take a hostile stand against Israel led to the failure of the live action adaptation of Disney's Snow White:

Actress Gal Gadot says she thinks pressure in Hollywood to denounce Israel helped tank her latest Disney film, Show White, which has become one of Hollywood’s biggest bombs.

Gadot, who played the evil queen in the Disney remake, says she felt the movie should have been a smash hit, but repeated controversies over comments by the film’s star, Rachel Zegler, mired the film in reams of bad publicity long before it hit the theaters.

“I have to say… I was sure this was going to be a big hit,” Gadot, a native of Israel, told the interviewer. But it all went pear shaped, and Gadot added, “You know, this happens a lot in various industries, including Hollywood. There’s pressure on celebrities to speak against Israel.”

Zegler, who starred as Snow White, spent months ripping Israel as oppressors and even claimed the country was committing “genocide” against the “Palestinians.” And during one interview, she said “free Palestine” while trying to promote the movie.

Her support for Hamas terrorists was not her only problem. She was also forced to apologize for wishing harm to befall supporters and voters for Donald Trump. She more or less told half the country she did not want their support for her film.

Yes, those were definitely some of the most grevious PR errors made, but even without them, the woke pandering still sunk the film big time, and lingered throughout production and promotion. Doesn't Gadot consider that? Suffice it to say her taking the role of a crook was poorly timed too, and that costume she wore was quite unappealing indeed. According to Israel Hayom, Gadot also said, in what's said to be a clarification of her previous comments:

"They saw me first and foremost as an Israeli, not as an actress," she explained while emphasizing that she did not direct accusatory fingers solely at external factors. "That's the perspective I spoke from when I answered the question. Of course, the film did not fail solely because of external pressures. There are many factors that determine why a film succeeds or fails, and success is never guaranteed."

Well I don't deny some phony critics seemed to make a fuss over her accent, even though there's plenty of French and Italian actresses who've worked in English-language productions and never tried to conceal theirs. That was reprehensible to take issue with her ethnic/national background, not her talent levels. Even so, some of Gadot's choices for projects, or the elements within, have been poor, echoing leftist themes that're bad influences, and it doesn't bode well for her overall resume. Also, there's the following problem in what she says at the end:

Subsequently, Gal explained her decision against wearing the yellow hostage pin on her dress lapel at the recent Golden Globes ceremony, a choice that earned waves of angry criticism. "I am Israeli and proud of it," she clarified. "I was invited to the Golden Globes to present an award. At such events, there are many collaborations and brands that are involved, and it's quite complicated. It didn't feel right for me to wear the ribbon to work. It could be that this was a mistake."

This is a disgrace, and her mistake, if anything, was cowering away from wearing it to the convention. Wearing a symbol meant to show solidarity with hostages of violent savages should not be even the least bit controversial, yet Gadot, if we're to take her at her word, wouldn't wear it to the Golden Globes? A commentor on the article said:

I like Gal Gadot. However, she was selfish and cowardly by refusing to wear the hostage ribbon at both the Oscars and Golden Globes. (There was nothing "complicated" about it).

It was definitely an act of cowardice on her part, and only worsened the situation. But if the artistic merit of a film, or lack thereof, is to be judged by whether it involves divisive ideologies, then Gadot's clearly less interested in clarifying any of that. So, why say she thought the live action remake of Snow White would be a colossal success? When the star of the movie goes miles out of her way to make crude statements about the original cartoon film, coupled with her alienating statements about Israel, it only worsens the situation a hundredfold. That's something Gadot has yet to address, and I guess her leftist positions are getting in the way.

So, let's turn our attention instead to the original Snow White cartoon produced nearly a century ago by Walt Disney himself, and not waste time on some live action remake that only demonstrates the sad contempt for animation in Hollywood. And hope maybe some modern animators will at least try to persuade audiences animation is more worth it than something as dreadful as the live action Snow Woke turned out to be.
