Here's some scans I got from a couple of old issues of Wonder Woman #198 from back in 2003, written by Greg Rucka. Up to this point, he managed to hide his left-leanings well enough (although that part an issue earlier where he has WW arguing with the Flash that they should let a section of forest burn to allow new growth of plants is still pretty ludicrous). But these 2 pages are where he lets the mask slip, and doomed activist Keyes is pegged as a right-wing clown, who's accused of being "self-appointed". Later on, in issue 208, Rucka even went so far as to make Veronica Cale describe herself as a "patriot" and tell Medusa and her 2 sisters, Stheno & Euryale, that this is why she's helping them target WW!
Rucka might've said at the time that he'd conceived Cale as a female variant on Lex Luthor, and if it hadn't been for the suggestion she was right-wing, it might've worked.
In any case, all plans for turning Cale into a WW adversary were abandoned very quickly when Infinite Crisis came about, even though Cale appeared at least a few more times afterwards.
If the above isn't enough, wait'll you see this almost hilarious lapse in logic when Medusa invades Cale's offices in WW 207:

On the first page, we see that the security guard turned to stone when Medusa reveals her eyes. But then, several pages ahead:

Huh?!? Then how did the guard become one with the granite when he eyed Medusa on the video camera? That's not a direct view of Medusa's stony eyes at all. How silly.
Labels: dc comics, dreadful writers, politics, Wonder Woman
Yeah, I never liked Rucka's run on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman was actually a decent comic when written by Perez, but since then it's almost as though Dc doesn't know what to do with her and she's been used as a mouthpiece for left-wing politics by various writers, in her own comic and in JLA.
