A look back at Calvin and Hobbes

Gregory E. Favre wrote two years ago on Poynter Online about Calvin and Hobbes, one of the best comic strips I read years before, and have some of the collections, that sadly only ran about a decade, from late 1985 to early 1996. It's a real shame it didn't last longer than it could've, because it was definitely a work of brilliance that Bill Watterson had. Calvin posing as Spaceman Spiff, becoming weightless, growing big and falling off the planet, and, lest we forget, thinking that his stuffed tiger, Hobbes, was real.

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
