Advertisements in comics are vanishing

According to this, both Marvel and DC are running less and less outside advertisements in the pages of their pamphlets, and those that do appear are mostly in-house ads. A good guess why can be that, as the economy declines and people find their prices (3 or 4 dollars) too high for consideration, less people are likely to buy products through readership, and thus, it becomes a far less lucrative way for even movie studios and game developers to advertise their products.
And Marvel and DC have only their alienating storytelling to blame for all this too.

I'm surprised. They could be running ads for Barry-O. It'd be tax-deductible too.
