Mark Waid doesn't think humor can work with the Hulk's action
"There's not a whole lot of room for humor with Hulk smashing things. It's not as cerebral a book as Daredevil can be," the award-winning writer says.He clearly never read Peter David's take on the green goliath at the time he was still a talented writer himself, which did find plenty of room for humor and if it involves the Hulk smashing up the headquarters of villains while wisecracking, I don't see what's not entertaining about that. David's run only fell apart towards the end when he killed off Betty Banner, apparently taking out his anger over personal problems he was going through at the time using Betty as the means of doing it. She may have been revived later on, but since it was within the time Joe Quesada had become EIC, it was still a botch.
What Waid says makes me wonder if he's never even watched an action-comedy movie, where humor can be found in knocking up the bad guys and their HQs if done right. All the same, he's gone downhill fast in past years, and I wouldn't expect him to deliver any talent on the Hulk's book either.
