"Love is Love" anthology features stories by Meltzer & Bendis

It looks like that unrepentant novelist/occasional comics writer, along with one who's more career and has a similarly distasteful product from 2004 on his record, are on the list of contributors to the anthology special allegedly published to benefit victims of the jihadist who attacked a gay Orlando nightclub:
Among the announced contributors are Brian Michael Bendis, Gail Simone, Scott Snyder, Jim Lee, Paul Dini, Jason Aaron, Jason Latour, Kieron Gillen, Michael Avon Oeming, Tom King, Cecil Castellucci, Mirka Adolfo, Mark Millar, Cat Staggs, Amanda Diebert, Sina Grace, Ed Luce, Phil Jimenez, Brad Meltzer, Morgan Spurlock, Matt Bomer, Taran Killam, Steve Sadowski, Paul Jenkins, Mike Carey, Matt Wagner, Damon Lindelof, Patton Oswalt, Brandon Peterson, Jesus Saiz, Olivier Coipel and Leinil Yu.
I'm still at a loss to figure out how a man who already let know he was siding with Islam somehow qualifies for adding a story of his own to something that'll probably turn out to be a major disappointment in terms of what it can tell anybody about the motivations of the jihadist. Even Bendis performed some similar apologia in the past. Latour and Simone aren't exactly qualified after the politics and/or distortions they participated in either.

I'm also not sure it's appropriate to be using Will Eisner's creation, The Spirit, in this anthology, but that's still nothing compared to the questionable personalities of the writers/artists involved. And who knows if the money made on this special will even end up going to the victims?

I know you're worried about One-Hit Wonder and Mr. Repetitive, but the rest of the characters listed haven't been batting a thousand lately, and in some cases at all.

  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
