A new GI Joe series from IDW?
IDW Publishing announced a brand new G.I. JOE series, G.I. JOE: Sierra Muerte by creator Michel Fiffe. Fiffe, who is the creator of the indie comic Copra, will write, draw, letter, and color this new G.I. JOE series. It may be better - and less politically infected - than Aubrey Sitterson's catastrophous series or two (Scarlett's Strike Force, let's recall, lasted a paltry 3 issues unfinished), but from the artwork samples provided here (via Superhero Hype), it still looks like very mediocre artwork, right down to the lettering job. More like a 3rd grade school student's notebook sketch.
IDW describes the series as “a bombastic-yet-personal, gritty-yet-colorful account of Hasbro’s iconic G.I. Joe team’s quintessential mission.”
Assuming they're avoiding overt leftist politics this time round, that might be the saving grace, but otherwise, with such dull character designs, I just don't see how this'll salvage IDW's already failing business.
