Our Culture posts a sloppy take on why comics would be popular among adults
Finally, comic books are good. The writing is excellent, the stories are interesting, and the illustrations are impressive, to say the least. It’s no surprise that some adults appreciate the work of art that a comic book is, and all the hard work that goes into it. What’s more of a surprise is that more adults don’t give them a try. They would probably like what they find.I'm afraid this is putting the art form above criticism and objectivity in every way. There are, most unfortunately, mainstream comics of late with very bad writing, even if the story isn't political per se, and particularly at Marvel now, extremely bad artwork. Even independent comics are vulnerable to political correctness. And company wide crossovers like what Marvel/DC have churned out almost entirely unquestioned in the past 20 years are another way of dragging down story quality, along with higher cover prices at 4 dollars or more. There's no guarantee every adult would be happy if they stumbled across such embarrassments.
