Joe Quesada hired by Amazon for TV and film adaptations through them
Amazon has recruited one of Marvel’s former bigwigs as the streamer plans a greater focus on comic book films and TV series.Interesting they describe him as a "bigwig", because that word could be used to describe a gangster. If anything, the way Quesada ran Marvel in his time was throughly reprehensible, and some of the early examples of politicized storytelling and wokeness began under his reign as EIC. The mistreatment of Mary Jane Watson and breaking up the Spider-marriage was just the icing on the cake.
Joe Quesada, the former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief and ex-Marvel Entertainment chief creative officer, has signed an exclusive first-look film and television deal with the retail giant. Under the deal, Quesada will focus on adapting existing and new comic book IP for the Jennifer Salke-led streamer. [...]
Amazon, which is already working on a slate of Sony-owned Marvel projects with studio-based Phil Lord and Chris Miller, now lands a seasoned comic book powerhouse with a keen knowledge of characters and writers. Quesada spent 24 years with Marvel, helping to produce storylines that later became big-screen arcs including Civil War, Age of Ultron and Guardians of the Galaxy. He developed characters including Ms. Marvel and Miles Morales, the latter of whom is at the center of the Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into the Sider-verse. During his time as creative chief, he was a key player in the first group of Marvel Studios movies and TV series and is credited as an exec producer on the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Agents of SHIELD.
And interesting they note he was involved with film adaptations in the past decade or so, because anybody who'd go miles out of his way to deconstruct hard work of geniuses over petty issues has no business working in major movies, and doesn't deserve the work. Yet that's exactly what the aforementioned Isaac Perlmutter gave Quesada - and the equally awful Brian Bendis - when he was serving the main overseer for the Marvel film franchise in the past decade. And that's why, conservative credentials or none, I'm not sorry to see Perlmutter get the pink slip from Disney's employ, following all the financial disasters they caused themselves by going increasingly woke.
I'd strongly recommend anybody in the know of Quesada's blatant disrespect for Stan Lee's hard work not bother watching any new TV shows and movies he develops. His selection for EIC years before was a tragedy, and today only gives credence to anybody who feels Marvel should've concluded publication in the early 2000s.
