Much too late to recommend Hawkeye's comics origin for movies
During his tenure in the MCU, Hawkeye hasn’t exactly been anyone’s favorite. It’s hard out there for a man who only has a bow and arrow to his name. After all, the other members of his MCU crew known as the Avengers are made up of a god, a millionaire, and a time-traveling World War II hero. But he’s appeared in some of the best superhero movies around all the same.Okay, am I reading this correctly? There's moviegoers who can't make distinctions any more than certain comics and manga readers? This certainly has to be speaking volumes. Mainly because similar to Green Arrow, Clint made use of "trick arrows" too. Unfortunately, at a time when the movies are declining as much as the comics have, it's just too late to recommend using the comics origin, and besides, what if it turned out the screenwriters relied on the more recent "origins" since the turn of the century? Speaking of which:
Criticism of Hawkeye usually consists of laments such as: “Well, he’s boring,” or “He doesn’t do anything”. Wrong! Hawkeye is an integral member of the Avengers crew and has played an important part in some of the best action movies in the MCU. And though he may not appear on many people’s lists of the best MCU characters, we’ll always think fondly of him.
And besides, when you hear about his unexpected backstory, you might change your mind. In fact, Hawkeye’s origin is so intriguing that, like us, you may find yourself thinking that a solo movie for this Avenger may not be such a bad idea.
Think about it: a family tragedy, a carnival setting, a betrayal from a mentor…these are all the beats that could form a very entertaining superhero origin flick, especially for a character who we’ve already come to know. (Yes, he did get his own namesake Marvel series, but that didn’t exactly touch on his backstory, either. Wasted opportunity!)Assuming they're talking about a brief early 2000s series starring Hawkeye, I vaguely remember reading that, and it was awful slow, and an early example of Marvel stories drifting away from quality, since the art was very mediocre in that book. Hawkeye's earlier appearances in comics like Avengers Spotlight from the late 80s were far better, and that's what I'd recommend for audiences today, along with 2 miniseries from those times. And hopefully, they'd change their mind about the comics proper at that. And near the end of the article:
But maybe beyond Marvel’s Phase 5, we might be able to keep our fingers crossed for a Hawkeye solo outing. We’ll keep our eye on the skies for now.Forget it. They've gone too far already with their wokeness, which could easily affect a Hawkeye film to boot, and current Marvel owner Disney's financial fortunes have dwindled to the point they're closing a Singapore-based Lucasfilm division. With any luck, Marvel will eventually be closed as a comics publisher too, if that's what it takes to avoid all the next woke disasters they're bound to produce soon enough.
