Francois Walthery's Natacha comic strip being adapted to live action
The film is loosely based on the comic strip of the same name created by screenwriter François Walthéry, which was published by Editions Dupuy, and which comprises 23 albums and has sold more than five million copies. Now here's the part that bears important consideration:
The story follows Natacha, who, since she was a child, has dreamed of becoming an air hostess so that she can break free from the constraints of an age where women are expected to remain at home. Just as her dream is on the verge of becoming a reality, she finds herself involved against her will on an adventure on the trail of a bunch of thieves who have stolen the Mona Lisa.
Co-written by Noémie Saglio (“I Kissed a Girl”), who also directs the film, and Laurent Turner (“Penny Pincher”), the film is a is a co-production between Newen Studios Group companies TF1 Studio and Daï Daï Films, TF1 Films Production, Pictanovo and Pathé. Netflix and TF1 are broadcast partners.
Vanessa Djian, producer at Daï Daï Films and Nathalie Toulza Madar, deputy general director at TF1 Studio said: “We are delighted with the scale of ambition that ‘Natacha (Almost) Air Hostess’ offers. Together with the talented Noémie Saglio, we wanted to create a funny and modern film, which was made for women as much as it was for men. In this post #MeToo era, we think there’ll be a huge appetite from audiences for a comedic female lead.”Well I sure hope that doesn't imply it'll come within even miles of wokeness, and that, on the contrary, it indicates they're willing to make a film that's actually entertaining, comedy included. Consider the very unfortunate situation that befell Spirou, the magazine Natacha was originally published during 1970. It won't do any good if the filmmakers of this project cave to PC as well. If this film is a comedy, they must follow through convincingly too, right down to giving a positive role to Natacha's boyfriend Walter.
