People announced the pretentious filmmaker Kevin Smith is publishing a comic special with Dark Horse that's meant to be a tribute to the late actress Shannen Doherty of Beverly Hills 90210 fame (well close, since she was fired from the cast after 4 seasons due to reportedly poor behavior on the set), who starred in Mallrats 30 years ago:
Whether anybody cares enough to read a comic helmed by Smith any more than his films now remains to be seen. But, he's pretty unappealing to me, and I don't care to bother about his works today, which of recent included a Masters of the Universe cartoon that was pretty woke too. That's why I don't put much value in anything Smith's done.
Kevin Smith is giving fans of his 1995 movie Mallrats a sequel, of sorts, in a tribute to late star Shannen Doherty.Well I don't see what good it does for Smith to serve as one to do a tribute, comics-based or otherwise, to the late actress, considering how pretentiously leftist he's been, and his Black Cat miniseries for Marvel in the early 2000s was abominable. Interestingly, Doherty was a conservative supporter in her time, which probably makes it a little ironic he'd do a tribute to her at a time when conservatives have been increasingly ghosted by Hollywood.
On Wednesday, Aug. 20, Smith, 55, shared an Instagram post with illustrator Ryan Gajda that revealed a cover for Smith's Quick Stops Vol. 3 — meant to resemble Doherty and Jason Lee’s characters from Smith’s cult classic — as they announced the comic book will release Sept. 24.
“I've been excited about mentioning this for a while... but earlier this year I drew a whole comic written by @thatkevinsmith for his Quick Stops series with @darkhorsecomics and it's out next month on Sept 24th,” Gajda wrote in the caption.
“The story is a tribute to the incomparable Shannen Doherty and a continuation of the story of Mallrats based on Kevin Smith's sequel script that would have checked in on Brodie and Rene 30 years on from the events of the original,” the illustrator added.
