NY Daily News' lethargic report on the new Supes/WW romance

The New York Daily News has written their own take on DC's publicity stunt with the Man of Steel and Amazon Princess, and it's almost laughable:
Comic book fans are about to be shocked in a single bound by the sight of Superman locking lips with his Justice League comrade Wonder Woman in a new issue of the comic book out Wednesday.

It’s unclear how mere mortals in the comic book universe will take to the idea of the Man of Steel being part of a power couple — instead of with humble scribe, Lois Lane.
Not shocked, just bored to tears, because it's not even the first time this has happened. John Byrne already wrote a story in Action Comics #600, for example, where the two had a brief affair, though Supes didn't think he was going the right way about it, so it's nothing new, and with people like DiDio, Johns and Jim Lee in charge, it could only be a snoozer.
Not everyone, though, cozies up to the idea of the Man of Steel dating the hot-pants wearing Amazon popularized by the 1970s TV show starring Lynda Carter.
Say what? WW was already popular enough when she first debuted in 1941, and hot-pants isn't exactly what her costume is like either; it's more one-piece bikini style. What lead them to write in such a confusing line?

Lee, who was interviewed for the article, even tries to deny this is what they intend it to be:
“It’s not a stunt,” says Lee. “It wasn't just about changing things from the past, it was really about giving us great opportunities to do things we haven't been able to do before.”
Sure it's not a stunt. They just said they're hoping this'll start some outcry, so it is a stunt, and their intent to cause controversy with such an obvious, artificial step is deliberate too. And by "we" he means only the current writing, drawing and editorial staff haven't been able to try this before. They're just jealous of past writers and artists who did these kind of things in far better taste than they ever will. The only opportunities to be found here are the ones being crafted by opportunists.

And besides, they've pretty much given away the money shot with this picture on the side, so now, nobody really needs to bother buying the Justice League issue at all; the panel of Supes and WW kissing each other will be enough for everybody.
