Ant-Man gets stuck under the collector's mentality

Diamond Galleries' Scoop section tells that an issue of Tales to Astonish #27, featuring the debut of Hank Pym, who also led an alternate career as Giant-Man, sold on the collector's market for $65,000. No doubt this had something to do with plans to adapt a movie based on Ant-Man, but the sad part is how this is another book copy that'll probably just sit around in a plastic case and never be read for entertainment value.
And to be sure, news of the movie project is what got this sold on the perception that alone will make it worth millions, not because the buyer wanted to read it. Whenever I head about subjects like these today, it only depresses me, because I realize that money, not appreciation for the story, is what's driving these sales.

To be fair, this actually is a collectible. It's old, it's rare, it features an important event.
The problem is with mass-manufactured junk with shiny covers that will be forgotten in 2 years being called "collectible."
