The Four Color Media Monitor

Because if we're going to try and stop the misuse of our favorite comics and their protagonists by the companies that write and publish them, we've got to see what both the printed and online comics news is doing wrong. This blog focuses on both the good and the bad, the newspaper media and the online websites. Unabashedly. Unapologetically. Scanning the media for what's being done right and what's being done wrong.

Another tweet and 3 screencaps of Gene Ha's two-faced tripe

Artist Gene Ha's been making a laughless joke of himself again with another retweet of Brad Meltzer, for whom he illustrated at least one JLA story several years ago:
Again, as first seen in this example, he continues to associate himself with a man whose portfolio contains at least a few more examples of poor characterization for women, even as he most likely continues to shun Orson Scott Card. I also have to shake my head at this post:

If it weren't for the seriousness of the issue Meltzer blatantly trivialized in his notorious 2004 miniseries, I'd probably be falling out of my chair laughing at what a shameless lie Ha's blurted out of his mouth. If he really couldn't stand structural sexism, he wouldn't approve of Identity Crisis' resolutely male perspective, or the way Meltzer's otherwise refused to address any of the most challenging questions about the story structure. Nor would he have ever associated himself with Meltzer to begin with. As far as I'm concerned, Ha knows pretty well what was going on back in 2004, and that only makes him all the more a disgrace. No self-respecting woman who realizes what kind of monstrosity Identity Crisis was like should associate themselves with Ha.

He also retweeted two items about Ferguson:
I wonder if he's seen this terrible news about some protestors in Ferguson were robbed of their belongings, with one victim being a state senator? And it made no difference that the robbery victims sided with Mike Brown. It also sounds like this is Occupy Wall Street all over again. Is Ha sure he wants to give his backing to these hoodlums? What a phony he is indeed.

And the many leftist comic book people start to comment on Ferguson. Ron Marz, Gerry Conway, Mark Waid, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Matt Fraction, Gerry Duggan, Brian Michael Bendis, G. Willow Wilson, Gene Ha, Gail Simone, Greg Pak, Sam Humphries...

    And Slott and Remender.

"'Violence will not be tolerated.' Ironically, that was the message of the protestors as well."

The "protestors" were throwing rocks and bottles, firing guns, and setting fires. The reporters on the scene were clearly terrified, and one referred to the rioters as "agitators."

That journalist decided that the "peaceful protesters" were "agitators" once they started throwing stuff at him. ;)
