What some writers/artists have to say about Trump's healthcare policies

I have no idea how good the new draft of a bill for reversing Obamacare will be, but Ron Marz sure isn't helping any with this following tweet:

Does that include all the conservative contributors to comics fandom, many of whom have had to hide their leanings because they're worried about getting blacklisted? I guess so. He may not think so, but an attack like that on Trump voters means he's calling rightists within comicdom idiots too.

Another letdown is artist Kieron Dwyer, who posted the following political cartoon:

Oh, thanks a lot for keeping up the needlessly nasty tone, pal.

We could also add Chris Roberson:

Man, he sure knows how to pick the worst of movements. The ACLU is otherwise a very phony civil rights outfit that's done more to undermine America over the years than anything positive. If they once supported religious rights for Christians, they no longer do. Some of their members are truly despicable people too.

And, when vice president Mike Pence spoke about having an administration with life defenders, Gail Simone replied to him:

The woman who supported allowing men into women's bathrooms should look at herself in the mirror when she says that. Which may not be easy in a public facility as a result of the beliefs she's upheld.

Even on the left, there's sources like USA Today who've said it wouldn't be a disaster to repeal Obamacare. So I think the "creators" who've been attacking Trump and the right over their wish to reverse a failed policy would do well to just let it go.

Nancy Pelosi make it clear that Obamacare was the wannabee artist's friend. If you've decided to spend your time wearing black and hanging at the Moma all day while doing a failing webcomic, novel, painting or theatrical play either you get to stay on mom and dad's tab till you're 26 or you can pay only 700 bucks and rely on someone else pay for your actual health care costs for the year. Yeah, I can see why they would be upset losing their free stuff.

Contrary to what Marz, Simone, Jimmy Kimmel et al. want you to believe, the AHCA does not remove coverage for birth defects or other pre-existing conditions. It might cause Cher to have to pay more for her own drug rehab, but she can afford it.

About me

  • I'm Avi Green
  • From Jerusalem, Israel
  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
