Archie isn't suited nowadays to adapt Dick Tracy
This may not be the first time Chester Gould's famous plainclothes police inspector from newspaper strips appeared in pamphlets (I think there were some in the late 1940s). And it may not even be the first time he ever appeared in an Archie-related product (there may have been an animated cartoon in the early 1970s where he guest starred). But after all the SJW mistakes they've made for nearly a decade now, I wouldn't consider Archie a good shepherd for adapting Dick Tracy into new comic books:

Assuming there's even still a big enough audience for the newspapers, because this is an era where circulations are down, and the Tracy strips may run in far less papers today than before.

A statement from Tribune says that the company is “so very excited to work with Archie Comics,” adding, “Dick Tracy is an iconic character, who still resonates with his fan base. The reboot of the franchise will keep Dick Tracy and his cast of rogue villains at the forefront of heroic characters in the battle of good and evil.”

Dell did some Dick Tracy comic books in the 1940s, and Gladstone published a series in the late 1980s-early 1990s. AFAIK, they all reprinted the newspaper comic strips. I think Gemstone or Disney may have published a movie adaptation ca. 1990.
"Archie's TV Funnies" was an anthology series on the CBS network in the 1970s. Besides Archie, Jughead, and the other Riverdale characters, the show featured cartoon segments based on Broom Hilda, the Katzenjammer Kids, and Dick Tracy. The Tracy cartoons were very loosely adapted from stories in the newsaper strip.
Given the current SJW state of the medium, a new Tracy comic will probably have him as an Internal Affairs investigator, battling widespread racism and brutality in the police department.
