Marvel editor Alanna Smith shoves "racism" into the mess
Also, if your "criticism" stems from the fact that someone who isn't a white straight guy worked on something, or you enthusiastically follow someone who believes that's a valid critique, no one's obligated to give you the time of day. https://t.co/XxKPNFPcwk— Alanna Smith (@AlannaWrites) January 4, 2018
So, another victimologist trying to obscure all the shambles at the Big Two by accusing anybody who doesn't like the writing styles of a creator coming from a different racial background or isn't heterosexual of one-dimensional racism. Isn't that classic. What about all the editorial mandates that are surely discouraging a lot of women and folks of different races from applying for writing jobs at the Big Two? IIRC, the late Dwayne McDuffie was practically fired by Dan DiDio over a thoughtcrime (hinting he wasn't happy at the mandates he apparently suffered when he was writing Justice League America in the mid-2000s), and I'm sure Marvel had at least a few unfair dismissals of their own for petty reasons. The blacklisting of Chuck Dixon by both publishers is another serious error they made.
Furthermore, there's plenty of folks from different racial backgrounds who've produced stories in the past worth reading. Larry Hama as the GI Joe scribe is one, and some of his work on Wolverine's also pretty good. Christopher Priest, who was Hama's editor on a few books like the Bronze Age Conan adaptations, also produced some pretty good work during the 80s and 90s, and he was the first black editor in mainstream comicdom. So I think Ms. Smith would do well not to bore us with her buffoonery. Nobody's fooled by the tommyrot Marvel staffers like her are spouting at this point.
