Two execrable tweets by Rags Morales

The artist who's notorious for illustrating Identity Crisis wrote this pair of crude rantings a few weeks ago about some sport writers:

I can't even begin to tell how repellent I find that hashtag he's using. Can anybody envision the anger that would result if a Republican supporter said something like that? This just solidifies my opinion that he's one of the worst comicdom's ever been plagued with. As if that weren't bad enough, look what he retweeted a short time ago:
Yep, he still stands behind that nauseating screed. But at least I know now of a comics store I won't have to spend my money at if they're going to be so blatant and ignorant. Morales, lest we forget, cast his vote of support for Chomsky by retweeting 4 distasteful posts by that terrible professor, which just shows what kind of thought-school he comes from. Still, he's the kind of artist who, if he's got anything worth reading in his portfolio, it's only a handful of items. But which isn't excusing just how overrated his art is. I recall one blogger who said over a decade ago his work is competent but uninspired. That's a pretty accurate way to describe his illustrations. Another would be that the character design is forced and bloated. As of today, I'm glad I no longer own any of his work on Hawkman (I sold off some trades I once owned more than a year ago). It wasn't worth much to begin with anyway; just so overrated.

More idiocy on social media? Haven't you got anything positive to post?

  • I was born in Pennsylvania in 1974, and moved to Israel in 1983. I also enjoyed reading a lot of comics when I was young, the first being Fantastic Four. I maintain a strong belief in the public's right to knowledge and accuracy in facts. I like to think of myself as a conservative-style version of Clark Kent. I don't expect to be perfect at the job, but I do my best.
